Radiohead - present tense
This time I want to introduce a song that I liked on YouTube. Radiohead are a well known band all over the world, but their songs are very mellow and sometimes a bit sombre. This song has a nice melody and Thom Yorke (the lead singer) has a very high voice that complements the guitar well.
Here are the lyrics: -
Is like a weapon, is like a weapon
Of self-defence, of self-defence
Against the present, against the present
No, I won't get heavy, don't get heavy
Keep it light and keep it moving
As my world comes crashing down
[Chorus]
[Verse 2]
I won't turn around or the penny drops
Won't stop now, won't slack off
Or all this love will be in vain
To stop from falling down a mine
It's no one's business but mine
Where all this love has been in vain
[Chorus]
This song includes a lot of short sentences with metaphorical meanings so don't worry if you don' understand. To me this songs talks about modern times and that it is easy to panic with so much going on.
Listen to the sounds that the singer doesn't pronouns like the 'g' in 'falling' or the 'f' in 'f'. This can help your listening and your own pronunciation.
I hope you enjoy the song and please leave a comment!
