I am Sorry. It's been a while since the last blog post.
I have a song for you today. Frank Sinatra; 'Fly me to the moon'
We can learn English from music in many ways.
Let's look at a couple of those today but first, listen to the song.
First we can learn from the lyrics: -
Fly me to the moon.
Let me play among the stars. (Please allow me to...)
Let me see what spring is like on Jupiter and Mars. (Experience for myself)
In other words, hold my hand. (What I really mean to say)
In other words, baby, kiss me.
Fill my heart with song and let me live forever more. (To fall in love)
You are all I long for, all I worship and adore. (want)
In other words, please be true. (don't break my heart)
In other words, I love you.
Next we can learn sentence stress and timing.
FLY me to the MOON and let me PLAY among the STARS.
The words in BOLD are longer and Frank uses more power.
This is the same as speaking.
Try saying the sentence normally but make the bold words a little stronger.
By singing along to songs we improve so many things like our memory, tongue movement for pronunciation and timing.
Have fun and try singing this with me in class!
