Introduction - School Manager/Senior Teacher

My name is Jon and I am the School manager and head teacher here at Seed. I have lived in Japan for 15 years. I started teaching in 2005 in Tokyo and fell in love with the job which I have continued to do since then.

In 2011, I started the Trinity Diploma for English teaching and after completing that I became a manager of 20 schools and 34 teaching staff in the Tokyo area. There I would help train teachers and focus on building materials for all age ranges. I started my masters in TESOL in 2018 and should finish it in December this year.

From all the subjects I have studied and skills I have gained, I believe learning languages is a different experience to learning most subjects. I think it is similar to building a muscle. You can go to the gym but unless you feel motivated, challenged but not pushed you can become anything. If you don't understand what you are doing, don't know how to understand the things you do then it won't be fun and you won't become what you aim for. At a gym, staff will give you advice so at Seed, we will give you all the help, advice and support you will ever need.

Hope to see you soon!

Phonics song

Learning the sounds of English is an important start. This is one of my favourite songs because it is easy to remember and you can change it really easily. A is for Antelope! B is for Baby? No problem
